How Much Should I Pay For A Painter And Decorator in Canterbury, Kent 2023?

In truth, there is no magic text book or excel spreed sheet that you as a customer, or us as professionals can refer to when it comes to pricing up jobs and sending through estimates; although the internet will have you believing there is. With the countless number of guides offering average figures for price per day or price per room etc to what you should be expecting to pay, i would advise you not to use these unless you want a shock when you do have an estimate come through.

And also, don’t trust a business that offers an online estimate, a professional needs to see what they’re walking into. In an ideal world where everything is perfect, online estimates and pricing guides might actually work! But thats not the world we live in, so playing devils advocate, i think i speak for all professional painters and decorators when i say please don’t ask how much we charge a day, or how much would it cost to do this, we just don’t have the information provided to give an accurate estimate.

The only helpful piece of information i can say is a professional who’s just started and wants to get themselves out there might charge around £130 a day compared to an established professional who could charge anything up to £200 per day within their pricing estimates. Now before you think thats crazy just remember, professionals are professionals for a reason and they have chosen this trade as their livelihood, just think to yourself, would i be doing my job for £100 or less a day?

On top of just day rate in the Estimate, you need to factor in quality trade materials professional use. Any decent painter and decorator would not be referring to retail products in their estimate to get the price down and win some work. I personally would rather lose the job than use retail materials and have issues with the job; its just amateur! Speaking of amateur, i can guarantee you’ll be able to find one on facebook offering £100 a day cash in hand, no website to prove the quality of their work, no customer reviews or referrals, and no business running costs. In-fact i’ve lost customers to these amateurs before and haven’t lost a nights sleep yet!

To sum it up, a painter and decorator can charge on price whatever he believes they are worth and this is when the buying decision making process comes in for you as the customer. As long as you’re happy with the price and you feel the company is right for the job then thats the price you can expect to pay for a painter and decorator in Canterbury, Kent 2023. Allot of the time it comes down to the profile of the customer. Do you as a customer want a job done quickly and cheap or professionally done? This can be the difference from the price estimate being based on one day or three days and the use of quality materials. Personally Ive never put my name to a job that wants to be done on the cheap.
