Know Your Paint!

It no secret that most painters and decoraters have Dulux as their preferred paint of choice, in-fact some trade painters refuse to work with anything else! At Harris Decorating Services we wouldn’t go this far, but our basic rule is, if it isn’t approved by AkzoNoble then we’re not putting it on the wall.

But whats the difference between Dulux trade and Dulux retail paint?

  • Trade goes further than retail with a higher concentration of pigments.

  • Trade is more flexible for better application.

  • Trade provides a superior finish for better coverage.

  • Trade undergoes rigorous testing to be certain for a longer life.

So what finishes are available and how durable are they?

There are many options out there, some ranges can be combined together; but this isn’t always necessary. In reality it tends to come down to the preference and budget of the customer with guidance from their painter and decorator. However, to keep things simple i’ve narrowed it down to five basic ranges of Dulux trade paints.

Matt Emulsion Paints

Matt emulsions leave a smooth and velvety finish for a hard wearing coverage; with a slight sheen to hide small imperfections on walls.

Trade Diamond Paints

Diamond paint was made to last the test of time. Its the most durable paint today claiming to be at leas 50x more affective than the standard paint emulsion.

Eggshell Paint

Eggshell paint will leave a finish similar to that of a matt emulsion, with the extended benefits of withstanding stains. Its an ideal paint for low ventilation and high humidity areas.

Silk Emulsion Paints

Silk is a high durable paint and is ideal for areas that are prone to water damage. Its silk and shinny finish makes washing down qualities even easier.

Soft Sheen Emulsion Paints

Soft sheen is almost like a cross between a matt and silk emulsion. Another paint for high traffic areas that leaves your walls maintenance friendly with a lesser shine than silk.
